View the full project profile

Project Description

A series of five reports on surveys to monitor the well-being of former clients of the South Carolina Family Independence Program (FI/TANF). The reports present both statistics from the most recent sample as well as selected totals for data collected up-to-date. Approximately 500 closed cases were randomly selected for each quarter. Interviews were conducted by staff from SCDSS/PQA over the telephone. If they could not be contacted by phone (about 20%), a home interview was attempted.

Project duration: Oct 1996 - Feb 1999

Sites studied include South Carolina- statewide

Sample Characteristics and Sites Studied

A family's case had to have been closed at some point during the quarter under study. At least one of the household's members was an able-bodied adult required to seek employment while on FI/TANF. The family could not have returned to FI/TANF since their case closed.
