Project Description

To identify potential health impacts to children of current welfare and safety net policies. To increase understanding of the interaction between household food security and children's health. To gain understanding between six state welfare policies and their impact on child well being. To identify and direct services to families with children experiencing growth delays and undernutrition.

Little Rock, AR;
Los Angeles County, CA;
Minneapolis, MN;
Washington, DC

Sample Characteristics and Sites Studied

The Population is comprised of all children utilizing emergency and acute medical care in the six medical centers approximately 20,000 children/per year. The interview sample is a consecutively enrolled cross-sectional convenience sample of approximately 4,000/year.
