Project Description

The project is studying those individuals and families exiting TANF. The study builds on previous work by MPR in Iowa. Tabulations will be conducted across several variables, including urban/rural residence, reason for leaving TANF, and history of TANF receipt.

Sample Characteristics and Sites Studied

Administrative data is used to track one-month of individuals leaving TANF for 12 months after exit. A survey of 400 leavers, conducted at 8-11 months after exit, provides additional information about these individuals.
