Project Description

The Options/Opciones Project is a demonstration project in partnership with the Illinois Department of Human Services, involving welfare office assessment of domestic violence, and provision of new case management services to women who are domestic violence victims, to enable them to move from welfare to work. The project has a heavy research agenda to determine the effective strategies in addressing the needs of abused women as they try to enter the labor market.

One major welfare office on the west side of Chicago in the community of North Lawndale.
