Program/Policy Description Expansion of the Welfare Leavers Survey: a series of four surveys to monitor the well-being of former clients conducted by SCDSS. The expansion will be conducted by an independent contractor that will develop the research database for closed and diverted cases, building on linked administrative records and interviews of 1,000 former clients. The contractor will be selected in February 1999.
Notes This project is an ASPE-funded "Leavers" study.

Sample Size and Unit Expansion on TANF Leavers Study - linking data on TANF and employment/wage records as well as surveying 1,000 former clients selected from normal neighborhoods and neighborhoods noted for their high risk for child abuse and neglect. In-depth interviews will be conducted with 40 of these family heads. It is projected that longitudinal studies will be conducted with survey families over the following two years.
