| Program/Policy Description | The study is designed to collect and analyze survey data and administrative data on samples of welfare leavers, Food Stamp leavers, and welfare diverters since the implementation of South Carolina's TANF program known as the Family Independence Program (FIP). The study will track 1,000 TANF leavers over a three-year period to examine key outcomes, including child outcomes. The sample is stratified to include persons who left due to time limits, sanctions, employment, and other reasons. The study is also tracking about 300 persons who diverted from TANF and 1,800 Food Stamp leavers, including a special sample of ABAWDS. The study will also include 40 case studies of welfare leavers.” |
