| Program/Policy Description |
The state of Minnesota is conducting a longitudinal study of its TANF program, the Minnesota Family Investment Program (MFIP). Two separate samples of eligible adults from single-caregiver families were randomly selected from the caseload in mid-1998: ongoing recipients and new applicants. Participants are interviewed at baseline, six months, one year, and then at least annually through the fifth year to document their progress toward the MFIP goals of obtaining and keeping employment, increasing income and reducing poverty, and leaving and staying off welfare.
