| Program/Policy Description |
The study is designed to identify promising job retention and advancement initiatives being provided in the California counties that can serve as a model for policy makers and program administrators elsewhere. In the first phase of the study, each county welfare office and workforce development board in California will be surveyed, attempting to inventory all of the employment retention and advancement services being provided in the state. Based on the information gathered from the survey, five counties will be selected for further study that have particularly innovative programs and express interest in participating in a more-in-depth analysis. Interviews with administrators, program staff, and employers will be conducted at each of the sites to learn more about the innovative aspects of their programs and any challenges the site faces in implementing and administering the program.
