Program/Policy Description This study provides information about the living circumstances of people who had received cash benefits from the WAGES program during the period 1996 through 1998, but had subsequently left the program. It examines circumstances of their lives in several areas: employment and earnings, family stability, health and general conditions of well being. It also describes the extent to which individuals who left WAGES are relying upon the assistance provided by other government options.

Sample Size and Unit n=4,500 individuals who left WAGES between October 1996 and September 1998
Execution One thousand of those interviewed were chosen randomly from a list of all persons in the State of Florida who left WAGES during the specified time period. The remaining respondents came from four random samples chosen from those who had left WAGES in each of four WAGES Coalition Regions throughout the state: regions 12 (Central Florida), 3 (Chipola), 23 (Dade and Monroe) and 19 (Hardee, DeSoto, Highlands). Response Rate: All of Florida: 51.47%
