Type Longitudinal/Prospective Study
Aim To track the characteristics and well being of welfare leavers as well as barriers of current recipients to leaving welfare over the course of three years.
 
Type Descriptive/Analytical Study
Aim To examine the characteristics and well being of welfare leavers as well as barriers of current recipients to leaving welfare since implementation of TANF.
 
Type Descriptive/Analytical Study
Aim To gather information on the characteristics, barriers, expectations, and service needs of long-term welfare recipients;
To develop a profile of families who might have difficulty leaving the welfare rolls before reaching the 60-month lifetime limit on TANF benefits;
To provide information that might be useful in determining criteria for exempting families from the 60-month time limit as “hardship” cases under national welfare reform legislation;
and
To help determine how long-term welfare recipients might best be served through the federal Welfare-to-Work (WtW) program, which provides special funding for long-term welfare recipients with employment barriers.
